Medford, Oregon - This past November, Batzer Inc. received the "Contractor of the Year" Award by the Oregon Building Congress (OBC). Presented to President Russ Batzer at the agency's annual awards banquet in Portland, Oregon, the award was given in recognition to the outstanding contributions of Batzer Inc. to the OBC's Construction Academy Program targeted to Southern Oregon middle and high school students.
The Construction Academy Program was expanded to Southern Oregon this past June, with Batzer's lead and the partnership and support of more than 16 local agencies, educational institutions and contractors. "I am pleased our company has been chosen to receive this award, but it was a total team effort," Batzer said.
The goal of the Construction Academy Program is to partner with teachers and provide hands-on training for students that are directly transferable to the workforce following high school graduation. It is also intended to promote the construction industry as a career. "Construction is a good career choice," Batzer said. "I am pleased that the Oregon Building Congress is helping to spread that message."
PBC is a non-profit organization that unites contractors, trade unions, government and schools to educate and recruit high-quality workers for the construction industry. Batzer inc is a commercial and industrial Design/Build contractor founded over 48 years ago.
