Batzer Inc. Celebrates Completion of Mock Ford Project: First Drive-Through Dealership is Ready to Roll
GRANTS PASS, Oregon-On Friday, February 27th at noon, representatives from Grants Pass Josephine County Chamber of Commerce, Ford Motor Company and Batzer Inc. gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony at Mock Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Mazda. Having incorporated the latest in architectural design and construction technology, Batzer Inc. has completed finishing touches on the dealership's new 27,812 square foot state-of-the-art facility. Features include a 2,800 square foot showroom and a drive-through service center with 20 new service bays and 4 automotive detailing bays.
The ribbon cutting comes two months ahead of schedule, despite a challenge the Batzer team faced in April 2003, even before the project began. The construction team understood it would have to work while the dealership remained open for business. This required a 6 phase project, work crews of up to 15 members, the precise scheduling of 10 subcontractors, and successful staged demolition and relocation efforts. The good news, David Dessert, Vice-President of Batzer Inc. reported, was that Mock Ford did not suffer any negative financial impacts related to the construction. And, Batzer didn't exceed the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) attached to the project. "This was a win-win for everyone," Dessert said. "It was great to team up with the people at Mock Ford and make such a valuable contribution to the Grants Pass community."
The new Mock Ford facility sits on the same site that the dealership has occupied for over forty years, on "M" Street between 6th and 7th streets. The first Mock Ford dealership appeared in Eugene and expanded to Corvallis, Cottage Grove and Roseburg. In 1957, the Mock family opened the Grants Pass store. Today, the third generation of Mocks operates the facility.
Batzer Inc. is a Design/Build company that has been open for business since 1955. Currently the company employs more than 170 people involved in construction and renovation over the states of Oregon, Washington and California. Members of the media and the Grants Pass community were invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony.
